Choosing your bathroom lighting

When planning your bathroom lighting there’s a few tips we suggest:

1. MAKE USE OF NATURAL LIGHT FIRST

It's a good idea to make sure you make use of the natural light when planning the layout of your bathroom. You can adjust windows by adding adding different styles of louvres to allow natural light to filter in throughout the day but also allowing a bit of privacy.

2. ENSURE IT'S ENERGY EFFICIENT

Ensure the lighting is super energy efficient and long lasting by installing LED downlights which use 85% less energy than halogen or incandescent lighting. This can be used throughout the bathroom ceiling or on walls and dimmable options are available to create a flattering feel.

3. ADD A HIGHLIGHT WITH A PENDANT

Pendant lights can be a nice idea if you have plenty of overhead space above a vanity or they can be used to highlight a feature tile wall. Make sure you pick a pendant that complements the space and is a good fit. If it's too big it can overshadow, create a cluttered feel or restrict lines of vision. On the other hand if it's too small it can look insignificant.

Lastly don't forget about exhaust fans or heating when planning the lighting - fans can be installed to stop mold and structural rot and heating for a bit of luxury in your cooler environments. These can be combined with lighting or planned separately depending on the space and your preference.
